Family history

This 400-page family history and genealogy includes four sections separated by spreads of photographs. The first part is designed as an easy and possibly entertaining read. The second is traditional—family by family, alphabetically, with charts and names and dates and wills and other excerpts from historical record. The third is several first-hand accounts. The fourth is two collections of letters, a long-distance courtship in the early 19th century and a love story from the early 20th. The book includes footnotes, source citations, bibliography, and appendices.

The design and layout were prepared in InDesign using Open Face fonts Garamond Pro, ITC American Typewriter, Galliard, Avant Garde Gothic, Zapf Dingbats, Wingdings, Marlett, and Optane. Photographs were scanned into Adobe Photoshop and placed in 300 dpi grayscale TIFF format. The cover was also developed in Photoshop.
